Learn More About What We Do
Database maintenance is an activity which is designed to keep a database running effectively. DSI has years of experience in supporting all major databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SqlServer, DB2 and Informix.
We are experienced with automating routine maintenance tasks either by writing scripts or using vendor delivered toolsets available for the database, such as updating statistics on a regularly scheduled basis, or advising on the type of statistics to be run based on the profile of the database and whether it is OLTP or OLAP.
We advise on reorganizing indexes and tables as part of database maintenance. Since we are experienced with ERP packages, including PeopleSoft and Lawson Software, we know the nature of fragmentation that might occur at the object level or the container / tablespace level.
DSI is experienced in identifying database corruption using various tools based on the database type. We ensure minimum downtime by proactively monitoring such issues. We are also experienced in recovering from block level and logical level corruption. Our experience in resolving database recovery issues can help save you time and money.
Database backups is one of the most important maintenance jobs. DSI’s experience in backing database includes using vendor delivered tools or other utilities such as Veritas or Lite-Speed. We also periodically test the backup and recovery process to ensure its integrity.
